Watcha Doin' Tuesday?

A special word of advice from Noah Webster, 1882:

Exodus 18:21 (NIV)
But select capable men from all the people—men who fear God, trustworthy men who hate dishonest gain—and appoint them as officials over thousands, hundreds, fifties and tens.

If the citizens neglect their duty and place unprincipled men in office, the
government will soon be corrupted ... If our
government fails to secure public prosperity and
happiness, it must be because the citizens neglect the
Divine commands, and elect bad men to make and
administer the laws."

What's on the ballot?

Princess Pajama Pants

Last Saturday was Erin's 6th birthday. She wanted her friends to wear pajamas, and for a craft we painted pillowcases which I thought was really fun, even if a bit messy.

She also agreed to sacrifice store bought cake for a pinata. I didn't have any pinata experience, but we were quite certain to shield the patiently waiting children from the bat being wielded around their heads!

This is when the girls were all jumping, but stopped for me to take a picture. I love how they got progressively sillier!

Present time! Can you tell the princess' are what she had been wanting for nearly a year? Thanks Granny & Paw!

Self explanatory goodness!

And the unicorn slaying. Can you see everyone's mouth dropped when Anna busted open the pinata?

It was a super fun day!
No pictures of the painting, there was no time, but we used fabric paint, stencils & sponge brushes.

I Wonder...

This Halloween, Luke has deserted his soldier costume we bought on sale last year. No amount of talking will change his mind. Nothing will do but for him to be a "Daddy".

I wonder where he gets the idea....

A Recipe To Share

I made these for Erin's birthday party this weekend and they were so gooood!

(Photo from Life in a Peanut Shell)

The only mistake I made was cooking them a bit too long. I found the recipe at Life In A Peanut Shell . Her description says "muffins", but there is nothing muffin about these. This is not breakfast food. Although I did eat one in the morning anyway!

Click on the link for the recipe, you won't be sorry!
The only modification I made was using milk chocolate chips instead of semi-sweet.

Enjoy!

October 23, 2004 ~ 8:02 AM

I hope you never lose your sense of wonder
You get your fill to eat
But always keep that hunger

May you never take one single breath for granted
God forbid love ever leave you empty handed

I hope you still feel small
When you stand by the ocean

Whenever one door closes, I hope one more opens
Promise me you'll give faith a fighting chance

And when you get the choice to sit it out or dance
I hope you dance

I hope you never fear those mountains in the distance
Never settle for the path of least resistance

Living might mean taking chances
But they're worth taking

Lovin' might be a mistake
But it's worth making

Don't let some hell bent heart
Leave you bitter
When you come close to selling out
Reconsider

Give the heavens above
More than just a passing glance

And when you get the choice to sit it out or dance
I hope you dance

Shenanigans

Mr. Luke has kept us on our toes lately, to say the least.

He hasn't slept a full night in who knows when....

I overheard him having a conversation with my Mom & Aunt just the other day, and I'm not sure one word of truth came out of his mouth...

I mistakenly thought we would be spending the night at the camp a few weeks ago, because Luke told me "Daddy said yes". I believed his dimpled smile.

Here are some of his latest activities.

Me: Luke! What are you doing?

 Luke: Washing my hands.

He also has an unending love for blueberries...

He gets frustrated with me when I pull his undies & pants up a bit too much...
But he thinks it hilarious to do this:

It's a good thing he's funny, sweet, silly and thoughtful, so we'll continue to provide room and board.
